Identity and packaging for Foald, a design laboratory driven by curiosity and beauty operating at the intersection of creation and conservation. Their first product is Pillar, a lightweight, collapsible notebook computer stand designed to address poor posture everywhere you go. The design for Pillar is informed by the basalt columns which populate the breathtaking landscape of Iceland.
The challenge was to create a brand identity and packaging that conveyed the right balance of poetry and functionality. The logotype is influenced by and built from the same elements that inform the product, a hexagon. Given that the brand name is an action, the bespoke typography folds around itself with minimal elements evoking at once familiarity, futurism and history.
