Identity, brochure, map and guide for the Kobuchizawa Art Village, a unique tourist destination in Japan that combines nature, art and culture at the base of the beautiful Yatsugatake mountain. The Village is composed of a lodge, a museum dedicated to the artwork of Keith Haring, a spa with natural hot springs and a country style restaurant.
The original goal of this project was to create a dual language map and guide, though before starting we offered to redesign their logo. The client was so happy with the results that we did a complete rebranding of this unique destination. The mark can be read at any orientation as a K, A or V. Traditional Japanese textiles were used as a graphic element to speak to the history of the Village. The map, although decorative, succeeds through maximum readability and ease of navigation.
